Making your own soaps has become very popular. And what mom wouldn't love some soap made especially for them. This is not a little child craft. You need adult help but it can be a lot of fun. If you've never done it. Lorann makes a kit to get you started. For about $20 you get Everything you need to make great-smelling soaps in a variety of colors scents and shapes. Before the soap is solid, drop in a little message in a bottle so when they are done using the soap they have a little message from you. The bottles are actually glass charms you can wear around your neck, so once the soap is gone mom can string the bottle around her neck with your message or even fill it with a little of her favorite perfume.
What mom or grandma wouldn't love a bracelet or necklace with pictures of their kids. Frame beads are 3.99 for 6 frames. Add your mom or grandmoms favorite color beads or even birthstone beads, I even added watch face to the one I made.
For younger kids you can make a magnet or pin. Take tri beads, a half of pipe cleaner and beading lace. You thread a bead and 1 hole of the lace onto the pipe cleaner alternating each one until the stem is full. You then twist the ends together into an oval shape. I glued a cameo piece on mine and baby beads spelling MOM. Once dry you can glue a magnet or flat back pin to the back. This technique is so versatile. I have a craft for almost every holiday doing this.
Another idea is a mom keychain. I took ceramic letter beads, some heart pony beads and the peyote threading method to string the letters and beads onto a keyring. A very quick, cheap and easy craft for a group of kids.
