Searching around I found instructions to make a headband with a mini cowboy hat. This is so cute and campy I may just have to make it for some outdoor country western concerts I'm going to go to. http://naughtysecretaryclub.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-make-your-own-cowgirl-hat.html
Next up I found on How Stuff Works some great patterns to bead up your old plain headbands. http://home.howstuffworks.com/beaded-headband.htm

So through my search I found Headhuggers. On the home page they ask.... Do you knit? Crochet? Sew?
Would you like to use this skill to help
someone who has undergone hair loss due to chemotherapy, brain surgery, burn wounds, etc.? If you answer yes, head on over to headhuggers.org for guidelines and free patterns. I think I might just do something for this. I think I have to start making more things to donate.

Here is a contest I found at 350.org
First - what is 350 - 350 is the red line for human beings, the most important number on the planet. The most recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.
Put your creativity to work http://www.350.org/
350.org has teamed up with Craftster.org, and other crafting organizations to sponsor a couple of exciting contests over the next few months. Together we’re asking people to create quilts, t-shirts, hats, needlepoint designs, finger puppets, or whatever you can think of that helps spread the number 350 in their community. The submission period will be during the month of August, when participants will be able to enter their creations in the t-shirt design competition or the general craft competition – so get started early! Visit the contest website at www.craftster.org/350 for more details.
